Zack Snyder has revealed how Henry Cavill’s Superman suit was created on the Kryptonian scout ship seen in Man of Steel.

Henry Cavill made his debut as Superman in 2013’s Man of Steel, the movie that kickstarted the DC Extended Universe. For his first cinematic solo outing as Superman, Henry Cavill donned an updated version of the Last Son of Krypton’s iconic red and blue suit, designed by Michael Wilkinson and James Acheson.

In a recent Man of Steel watch party that took place on the social media platform Vero, Zack Snyder discussed how Henry Cavill’s Superman suit was created on the Kryptonian scout ship that played a key role in the movie and its follow-up, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. While doing so, Snyder mentioned that the suit was made by none other than Jor-El, Superman’s father. Here’s what Snyder said on the live stream:

“The idea that this 20000 year old ship, the ancestors of the house of El would have existed in, or the idea that this suit, was customed by the Jor-El AI that’s inside the system so he’s able to, the suit’s being generated by Jor-El. That was my notion.”

During the same watch party, Zack Snyder also talked about why Henry Cavill’s Superman chose the red and blue suit as opposed to the iconic black one of the House of El. He also teased that Antje Traue’s Faora could return from the Phantom Zone and discussed Easter eggs and theories involving Doomsday and Jason Momoa’s Aquaman.

Here’s the official synopsis for Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel:

A young boy learns that he has extraordinary powers and is not of this Earth. As a young man, he journeys to discover where he came from and what he was sent here to do. But the hero in him must emerge if he is to save the world from annihilation and become the symbol of hope for all mankind.

Directed by Zack Snyder, Man of Steel stars Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Michael Shannon as General Zod, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, and Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent.
