Zack Snyder has shared new photos from the set of his upcoming Netflix film, Rebel Moon.

Following his stint working with the beloved superheroes of DC Comics with Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Justice League, Zack Snyder began his collaborative relationship with Netflix with his horror action film Army of the Dead. Now, the filmmaker jumps to yet another genre with an original sci-fi film: Rebel Moon.

Principal photography on Rebel Moon has officially begun, and Zack Snyder’s upcoming original film with Netflix is shaping up to be an exciting new sci-fi epic that looks to honor his influences as a filmmaker, including the films of Akira Kurosawa and the Star Wars franchise. In one of these photos, we get a profile headshot of Academy Award-nominee Djimon Hounsou’s character, looking quite intense.

You can check out the photos from the upcoming Netflix film down below:

Zack Snyder has previously described Rebel Moon as a story originally developed as his take on the Seven Samurai story set within the Star Wars Universe. It has since been repurposed as part of its own original cinematic world, and potentially the launch of yet another genre film series with Netflix, along with Army of the Dead, which debuted on the service last year.

Directed by Zack Snyder from a script he wrote with Shay Hatten and Kurt Johnstad, Netflix’s Rebel Moon stars Sofia Boutella, Charlie Hunnam, Djimon Hounsou, Doona Bae, Ray Fisher, Rupert Friend, Stuart Martin, Cary Elwes, and Corey Stoll.

Meanwhile, Zack Snyder’s Justice League is now streaming exclusively on HBO Max. Here is the synopsis:

In ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.
