Is the perfect Wonder Woman from a galaxy far, far away? Andor star Adria Arjona talks about potentially joining the DC Universe during the press tour for season 2.
Andor has brought a lot of actors into the fandom limelight, especially heading into season 2. Diego Luna, Faye Marsay, and Alex Lawther are just a few names that have caught the eyes of nerds. And when it comes to fans and celebrities they like, it’s certain that the term “fancast” is bound to appear sooner or later. And there is no Andor star more associated with “fancast” than Adria Arjona, and the calls to have her join the DC Universe as Wonder Woman.
When it was first announced that a new Wonder Woman actress would be cast for the DC Universe, Adria Arjona was surprisingly far from most fans minds. Early frontrunners included Moon Knight breakout May Calamawy and Jaime Alexander. It was only after the promotional tour for Andor season 2 began to ramp up that the Star Wars actress catapulted to the top of most fan rankings to play the Princess of Power.
Is Adria Arjona Playing Wonder Woman?
Adria Arjona has expressed interest in playing Wonder Woman before, encouraging fans to “write about it” if they wanted to see the fancast come to life. However, it was only recently that the Andor actress spoke about the possibility directly to the press. Surprisingly, one of the main reasons she’s open to do it is that, long before she ever became a lead in season 2 of a Star Wars project, it was DC Universe architect James Gunn that gave her a big break
“He gave me my first movie ever, which was like my first studio movie,” Arjona told Cinemablend in a recent interview. “So I owe him a lot. I love James Gunn…I don’t know! I mean, I don’t know.”
Of course, being friends with James Gunn doesn’t automatically land one a role in the DC Universe (albeit it does increase your chances dramatically). However, Adria Arjona’s openness to taking on the role of Wonder Woman and the fancast being so popular could mean good things to come for her career following the conclusion of Andor season 2.
