Amazon has released the first three minutes of The Boys season two ahead of its September 4 release date, offering a look at the return of Giancarlo Esposito in the series.

Earlier today, the streaming service announced The Boys would return for its second season this September, with episodes set to roll out weekly rather than dropping all at once. The announcement came during a virtual event for the show which featured the cast along with executive producer Eric Kripke, and to cap it all off, Amazon showed off the bloody beginning of the upcoming new season.

The new clip reveals our first look at Esposito alongside Jim Beaver (Supernatural), as well as the return of Black Noir. You can check it out below.

Here is the official synopsis for the second season:

The even more intense, more insane season two finds The Boys on the run from the law, hunted by the Supes, and desperately trying to regroup and fight back against Vought. In hiding, Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), Frenchie (Tomer Capon) and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) try to adjust to a new normal, with Butcher (Karl Urban) nowhere to be found. Meanwhile, Starlight (Erin Moriarty) must navigate her place in The Seven as Homelander (Antony Starr) sets his sights on taking complete control. His power is threatened with the addition of Stormfront (Aya Cash), a social media-savvy new Supe, who has an agenda of her own. On top of that, the Supervillain threat takes center stage and makes waves as Vought seeks to capitalize on the nation’s paranoia.

The Boys stars Karl Urban Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Kapon, Karen Fukuhara, and Nathan Mitchell. So far, the series has added Goran Visnjic and Claudia Doumit for season two.
