The latest Star Wars series, Andor, has officially arrived on Disney Plus and received an overwhelmingly positive reaction on Rotten Tomatoes.
Andor explores the history of Diego Luna’s Rebel spy Cassian Andor, who was previously seen helping the Rebellion capture the Death Star plans in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. It offers a grittier, more ground-level view of the Star Wars universe.
The first three episodes of Andor all arrived on Disney Plus today and the series has quickly earned a “Fresh” Rotten Tomatoes score.
Disney’s New Star Wars Series Soars
At the time of writing, Andor has a score of 88% on Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer, which is based on critic reviews. The Star Wars series has also garnered an impressive 80% audience score. The current scores are based on 240 critic ratings and 166 audience ratings.
The first three episodes of Andor focus on Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor going on the run after a run-in with two sentry guards from the Morlana One corporate authority turns sour. The series finds Cassian looking for his sister when he is yet to join any effort against the Empire.
The initial response on Rotten Tomatoes paints a positive picture. While it is no guarantee that Andor will continue to impress, if the series continues on its current path, it looks set to please Star Wars fans with its fresh new take on the saga.
A second season of Andor has already been confirmed by Disney and Lucasfilm. While the first season takes place over the course of a single year, five years prior to the events of Rogue One and A New Hope, Season 2 will cover the remaining four-year period up until Rogue One begins.
