Andor creator Tony Gilroy revealed Ariel Kleiman will direct the first three episodes of season two.

Andor might’ve just premiered its first three episodes this week, but showrunner Tony Gilroy and Lucasfilm are getting ready to shoot the show’s second and final season in November. Season one begins five years before the destruction of the Death Star. While there won’t be any time jumps in season one, there will be one in season two every three episodes.

Will Tony Gilroy Direct?

For Andor‘s first season, Tobey Haynes, Susanna White, and Benjamin Caron served as the directors. It’s unclear if any of those directors will make a return for season two, but Tony Gilroy revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that while he won’t direct, Ariel Kleiman from Yellowjackets and The Resort will:

“I am not. I can’t. This job is just too huge. I don’t have the time to spare. It’s a really poor use of my time. Ari [Ariel] Kleiman is out in Pinewood. I was out there this morning. We start shooting in November. He started prepping three weeks ago. He’s got his hands full out there just to get to November. I have all the rest of the things I have to do. There was some fantasy that I would end up doing the last block, but I just can’t, to be honest with you.”

Here is the synopsis for Andor:

“The “Andor” series will explore a new perspective from the Star Wars galaxy, focusing on Cassian Andor’s journey to discover the difference he can make. The series brings forward the tale of the burgeoning rebellion against the Empire and how people and planets became involved. It’s an era filled with danger, deception and intrigue where Cassian will embark on the path that is destined to turn him into a rebel hero.”

Andor stars Diego Luna, Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Fiona Shaw, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, and Genevieve O’Reilly. Tony Gilroy, Dan Gilroy, Stephen Schiff, and Beau Willimon served as the writers of the Star Wars series, while Toby Haynes, Susanna White, and Benjamin Caron directed the episodes.

New episodes of Andor premiere every Wednesday on Disney Plus. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the Star Wars series, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
