Anthony Mackie recently discussed the MCU’s current direction ahead of his upcoming role in Captain America: New World Order and the actor shared some praise for She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.
She-Hulk is the latest MCU series to come to Disney Plus. It stars Tatiana Maslany as Jennifer Walters, the cousin of Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner, who finds herself taking in her cousin’s gamma-infused blood after a car accident and transforming her into She-Hulk.
She-Hulk plays out as a fourth-wall-breaking legal comedy, something that won the approval of Anthony Mackie, whose last Marvel appearance was also on Disney Plus in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.
Marvel’s New Direction
In an interview with IMDb, Anthony Mackie reflected on Sam Wilson’s evolution over his time in the MCU and the actor pointed to She-Hulk as an example of the freedom Marvel is affording their writers.
Asked about the material he would have to work with in the upcoming Captain America: New World Order and the work Marvel had been doing recently, Mackie said “I’m excited! I mean, She-Hulk was great… It’s just different from their norm. You could see Marvel giving writers the opportunity to spread their wings and look at the Marvel Universe in a different way.”
