Anthony Mackie would love a scene that rivals this one!

Anthony Mackie revealed the iconic Chris Evans scene that he would like to top as Captain America.

Chris Evans officially passed on the mantle of Captain America to his co-star Anthony Mackie. One of the most iconic moments from Avengers: Endgame involved Steve Rogers’ retirement of the shield, handing it over to Sam Wilson, whose reluctance to takeover was showcased in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, where he inevitably became the new Cap.

Anthony Mackie is set to make his cinematic debut as the new Captain America in the upcoming fourth standalone film, New World Order. In particular, he’s got one scene featuring Chris Evans that he has in mind that he’d like to have rival it. He told E! News the following:

“I want a fight scene that rivals Chris Evans’ fight scene in the elevator [in 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Solider] when he fought like 10 dudes in the elevator. That was a bad a** scene. The first time I saw that, I was like, ‘That’s crazy.’ So I just want a fight scene that rivals that.”

Leaving his own stamp as Cap.

Anthony Mackie is deserving of his own iconic action sequences as Captain America. While it is possible that the action that will be seen in New World Order could stand toe-to-toe with Chris Evans’ tenure, it’d be best to have Sam Wilson’s own stamp on them rather than evoking what’s come before. It’d ultimately be better for the character’s legacy if it stands out rather than comes off as a hollow imitation.

Sam Wilson/Falcon last appeared in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Here is the synopsis:

Following the events of “Avengers: Endgame,” Sam Wilson/Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) team up in a global adventure that tests their abilities—and their patience—in Marvel Studios’ “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.”

Directed by Kari Skogland from scripts written by showrunner Malcolm Spellman and Derek Kolstad, the series stars Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Falcon, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier, Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter, Daniel Brühl as Baron Helmut Zemo, and Wyatt Russell as John Walker/U.S. Agent. Desmond Chiam, Miki Ishikawa, Noah Mills, and Carl Lumbly also appear.

The Falcon and The Winter Solider is currently available to stream on Disney Plus. Captain America: New World Order will release in theaters on May 3, 2024. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the Anthony Mackie and Chris Evans, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
