Breaking Bad star Giancarlo Espositio, best known for playing Gus Fring in the AMC crime drama, has revealed new details about his MCU role for Marvel Studios.
Esposito played coy about who he is playing and said his character will get their own Marvel Studios series.
“The MCU has knocked on my door and it’s a role you won’t predict,” Esposito said. “It will be teased and there will be a series afterwards.”
Our guess is that he appears in an upcoming MCU movie where he will spin off into his own limited series. Our money says that we will find out what that actual series will be at the upcoming San Diego Comic Con 2024.
Fans have been petitioning for Giancarlo Esposito to join the MCU for years. Esposito himself has also expressed interest in joining the cinematic universe following his stint in Star Wars. While he’s been cast as almost every Marvel character under the sun by fans, one particular comic book creation that seems to have stuck is Charles Xavier, the leader of the X-Men.
Previously, at the recent CCXP in Mexico City, Esposito addressed the Professor X in X-Men rumor.
“I cannot promise you it’ll be Professor X, because here’s what I think,” Esposito said. “I think that there’s something about being original. We’ve seen different versions of Professor X. Wouldn’t you like to see me play a character in a Marvel movie who is original, and new, and fresh? So, mark my words: This will happen sooner than you think.”
Esposito became famous for playing Gus Fring, a drug lord who owned a fried chicken restaurant, in the TV show Breaking Bad in 2009. He played the same character again in the prequel series Better Call Saul in 2017. Since then, he has had notable roles in fan favorite shows like The Mandalorian and The Boys. He has also appeared in movies such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem and the Maze Runner movie series.
