‘Captain Marvel’ Star Brie Larson Receives Backlash For Metaverse Video

Captain Marvel actress Brie Larson received backlash over a Metaverse video she promoted.

Recently, Captain Marvel star Brie Larson came under fire for promoting the ongoing trend of NFTs with the use of a new NFT profile picture on her official Twitter profile. NFT’s, which stands for non-fungible token are stored on a blockchain that can be sold and trade within it. Although some have defended NFT’s and the cryptocurrency behind it all, others have criticized them for numerous reasons, including its effect on the environment.

Now, Brie Larson is once again promoting another ongoing virtual trend through the promotion of the virtual network 3D worlds known as the metaverse through some.place, a mobile metaverse. The Captain Marvel star shared a video of what she has minted within the some.place metaverse:

Similar to the response over her NFT profile picture, Brie Larson received some backlash over her promotion of the metaverse. In particular, fans of her role as Captain Marvel in the MCU continued to express disappointment over her promotion of the metaverse:

There continues to be a backlash over the current metaverse trends, as well as the surge in popularity over NFT’s and cryptocurrency. In particular, some have criticized celebrities for their promotion of the digital trends, and Brie Larson is just the latest public figure to receive scrutiny for doing so.
