Is Captain America: Brave New World in trouble? A flop at its most recent test screening suggests the film might be in store for more reshoots.
Captain America: Brave New World can all but officially be designated as the most cursed Marvel production of all time. The project has faced half a dozen controversies ranging from casting choices to the title itself, having changed from the initial New World Order due to online backlash. The film has also had quite a few reshoots, with the most recent taking place just earlier this month.
Those reshoots may be far from over. A new report by DanielRPK revealed that the film got more negative reactions at their third round of test screenings. The insider believes that more changes will need to be made by the studio in response to the feedback, signaling some last minute reshoots for the project heading into the holiday season.
Will Captain America: Brave New World Be Delayed?
The issues with Captain America: Brave New World reportedly go more than skin deep. While Marvel has tested screenings with the inclusion and exclusion of a certain cameo, it seems the main complaint with the film is balancing key figures such as The Leader. Some test screenings state that he doesn’t appear enough, while others state he plays too big of a role.
Luckily, there seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel for Captain America: Brave New World. Reports from test screenings have largely praised Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford in their respective roles. So while Marvel may need to put in some extensive legwork to fix structural issues, they seem to have a solid core to support any potentially unstable elements.
Captain America: Brave New World is currently slated to hit theaters on February 14, 2025. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
