Charlize Theron suits up as Clea in this official Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness concept art.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness features some surprise appearances from numerous characters from Marvel Comics lore. While much of the discussion regarding characters’ appearances are centered on the use of Earth-838’s Illuminati, including Professor X (Patrick Stewart), the film’s mid-credits scene has also garnered attention thanks to the casting of Charlize Theron as Clea.
In the comics, Clea is also known as Doctor Clea Strange, and is portrayed as a sorceress, disciple, lover and eventual wife to Doctor Strange. She also ends up taking the mantle of the Sorcerer Supreme after him. The appearance of Charlize Theron got a lot of viewers intrigued, given that this will be the latest Academy Award-winning actress to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
