Does the MCU have its next Norman Osborn? Invincible star Chris Diamantopoulos gives his pitch for a Green Goblin series starring himself.
Marvel has been teasing the Green Goblin for quite some time. Willem Dafoe famously made his return as the character in the MCU with Spider-Man: No Way Home. However, an animated variant of Norman Osborn is set to debut in just a few days in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, played by none other than The Walking Dead alum Colman Domingo.
This has left many to wonder who could play Green Goblin in the Sacred Timeline of the MCU. Dozens of names have been floated for the sake of speculation. Some say that fellow The Walking Dead veteran Andrew Lincoln would be the perfect pick. Others advocate for new blood like Glenn Howerton or Bryan Cranston. Some even suggest that nobody could top Willem Dafoe’s take on Norman Osborn, so Marvel shouldn’t even try!
Chris Diamantopoulos Wants To Play The MCU’s Green Goblin
Now it seems actors are throwing their own name into the ring! Chris Diamantopoulos, who plays Doc Seismic and Donald in Invincible, reveals his desire to play Norman Osborn in the MCU. He even has his own pitch, suggesting that the character get his own Disney Plus series focused around his journey in becoming the iconic Green Goblin.
“I would be very good in the in the Marvel Cinematic Universe,” Diamantopoulos told The Direct. “Yeah, I do definitely. I was born going to Silver Snail comic shop. That’s like one of the first place I ever went when I was a little kid, little baby. I’ve been a comic fan, a Marvel fan for my entire life, passed that on to my son. He’s a crazy comic collector, particularly 80s and 90s stuff.”
“But I think that they should make a series called ‘Goblin,’ and it should be about Norman Osborn leading up to becoming the Green Goblin. And I should be Norman Osborn.”
Chris Diamantopoulos would certainly be an interesting choice to play Green Goblin, especially given his comedic past in films like The Three Stooges. There’s also a rumor stating that Marvel is looking to bring Norman Osborn into the next leg of the Spider-Man saga in the MCU. Given the next installment is set to film in the next few months, it’s likely fans will find out soon who (if anyone) lands the highly coveted role.
