Alongside the first trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder, a new poster has been released, showing Chris Hemsworth’s Thor wielding Stormbreaker in a moment of 1980s-inspired glory.
The new poster accompanies the first official trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder, which also brings some suitably ’80s vibes with Guns N’ Roses’ “Sweet Child O’ Mine” serving as its soundtrack. The poster, which looks like it could have been promoting the original He-Man and the Masters of the Universe series, depicts Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder brandishing his new axe over his head atop jagged rocks, with lightning and a distant planet in the background.
The poster carries the logline “The one and only” – though the film’s first trailer suggests Thor Odinson might have to deal with the revelation he is no longer the one and only Thor. Check out the new poster below:
With Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster returning to share the mantle of Thor with Chris Hemsworth’s Odinson, it looks like things are about to get complicated for the Asgardian.
The poster also features Thor in his new Ravager outfit, which he appears to adopt while traveling with the Guardians of the Galaxy. The outfit draws clear inspiration from Marvel’s Thor-adjacent character Thunderstrike, who also debuted in the 1980s, adding to the overall aesthetic of the poster.
Here’s the synopsis for the previous film in the franchise, Thor: Ragnarok:
In Marvel Studios’ Thor: Ragnarok, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok – the destruction of his home world and the end of Asgardian civilization at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger – the Incredible Hulk!
Directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Ragnarok stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett, Idris Elba, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson, Karl Urban, Mark Ruffalo, and Anthony Hopkins. Here is the official synopsis for the movie:
Thor: Ragnarok is available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD. Meanwhile, Thor: Love and Thunder will hit theaters on July 8, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news regarding the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more great video content!
