Can Chris Pratt play multiple heroes? The Star-Lord actor speaks on his potential future with both Marvel and DC.
Chris Pratt sits at an interesting intersection for superhero actors. It’s clear Star-Lord has a future in the Marvel universe following Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. However, he’s also expressed interest in following director James Gunn over to the new DC Universe, leaving many to wonder which path he’ll choose. When asked about this trolley problem, Pratt admitted he thinks he can handle both.
“Well, it probably makes more sense that I would be Star Lord again,” Pratt explained in a recent interview with ComicBook.com. “But anything is possible, and especially with James [Gunn] over at DC. Maybe there’s something that would be right over there. Maybe both. How about both? Let’s do both. I think it’s 100% both.”
While some may scoff at the idea of an actor being in both Marvel and DC movies, he’s far from the only actor to do it. Jeffrey Wright and Djimon Hounsou were able to juggle both universes. Given Chris Pratt was already able to juggle Star-Lord with Jurassic World, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and more, he’d likely be more than fit to follow James Gunn while keeping one foot planted with the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Chris Pratt’s Potential DC Universe Role
Given Chris Pratt is known for playing goofy, slightly incompetent leading men with a winning smile, many fans assumed he’d be a shoe-in for the role of Booster Gold in the DC Universe. While the character is far from the same as Marvel’s Star-Lord, they’re similar enough to be the first connections in many people’s minds. However, when asked about this potential casting, Pratt simply said he’d consider anything James Gunn saw as right for him.
However, with James Gunn teasing he already has a role in mind for Chris Pratt, the Star-Lord actor may be appearing in a project in the DC Universe’s current slate. Given Gunn seems to be building up to a Terrifics film with his Superman cast, it may be possible that Pratt could play Plastic Man. He does have the comedic chops for it, after all!
Superman is currently scheduled to hit theaters on July 11, 2025. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the DC Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
