‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Star Chris Pratt Speaks On Booster Gold Fan Casting

The greatest superhero you've never heard of!

Chris Pratt Booster Gold Star Lord

With James Gunn helming a brand new chapter for the DC Universe, many fans have wondered if certain actors from the Guardians of the Galaxy films will be featured in new roles for the comic book franchise. Specifically, many fans wonder if Chris Pratt will star in the upcoming Booster Gold TV series. While the star confirms there haven’t been any talks yet, he wouldn’t turn down the offer.

Booster Gold, the greatest hero nobody’s heard of, will be returning to the spotlight with a brand new TV series in Chapter One of the DCU, which is titled Gods and Monsters. With the character being a blonde-haired charmer who comes off as dumb but is secretly very intelligent, many fans were quick to draw the comparison between the hero and the MCU’s reinvention of Star-Lord in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies.

While some fans consider him perfect for the role of Booster Gold, others are practically begging that Chris Pratt stays away from the DC Universe series. When asked about the buzz surrounding his potential role in the series by The Rolling Stone, Pratt said that he hadn’t discussed it with James Gunn, but that he would trust his judgement:

“If James thought I was right for it, then you know that would I would have to consider it,” Pratt told the site.

Many casual fans were taken aback by the announcement of a Booster Gold TV series. However, Gunn has previously said that Booster Gold was the single most requested character to appear in his new DCU. While the character has never been a true headliner the same way Batman or Superman are, he’s always been popular enough to never truly disappear from the comics or their adaptations. Versions of Booster Gold have appeared in everything from Smallville to the final episodes of the DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. No casting or release date has been released about the show at this time.

What to expect from the third Guadians movie

One confirmed aspect of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is the return of James Gunn as writer and director. Gunn was originally set to direct the film after the success of the first two Guardians flicks, but was temporarily removed from the project due to controversial tweets that resurfaced from his past. However, after a public outcry from the Guardians cast and fans, Gunn was reinstated on the film. Vol. 3 is his last Marvel movie due to his commitments to DC Studios.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 synopsis reads as follows: “Our beloved band of misfits are settling into life on Knowhere, but it isn’t long before their lives are upended by the echoes of Rocket’s turbulent past. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him on a dangerous mission to save Rocket’s life – a mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.”

Written and directed by James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Sean Gunn, Sylvester Stallone, Will Poulter, Chukwudi Iwuji and Maria Bakalova.
