The CW has officially cancelled DC’s Legends of Tomorrow after seven seasons on the air.
Devoted fans of The CW’s Arrowverse are in for more sad news today. Following the announcement that Batwoman would not be returning for a fourth season, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is officially not returning for an eighth season.
Keto Shimizu, showrunner on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow confirmed the news on her official Twitter, expressing sadness over the show’s cancellation, but gratitude for fans that have stayed tuned in since the series first premiered in 2016:
With both Batwoman and DC‘s Legends of Tomorrow cancelled, as of right now, The CW‘s Arrowverse series lives on exclusively through The Flash, which was renewed for a ninth season, and Superman & Lois, which was renewed for a third season.
As the third original Arrowverse series, DC‘s Legends of Tomorrow has ended at an impressive 110 episode run. In comparison, Arrow ended at eight seasons and 170 episodes, while The Flash continues to air with a ninth season on the horizon and a current episode count of 163 episodes and counting. Meanwhile, Supergirl recently ended after six seasons and 126 episodes, Black Lightning ended after four seasons and 58 episodes, and Batwoman ended with three seasons and 51 episodes.
