Could Colman Domingo replace Jonathan Majors as Kang? A stunning new piece of fan art imagines the Academy Award-nominated actor as the Marvel Cinematic Universe villain
Last year, Jonathan Majors became embroiled in one of the most prominent Hollywood scandals seen in years. The actor, best known for his role as Kang the Conqueror in the MCU, was arrested and charged with assault. This led to his manager, publicist, and even Marvel Studios parting ways with him.
With Jonathan Majors now out from the role of Kang the Conqueror, Marvel fans have been left to speculate who will pick up the mantle for the character in the MCU. While names ranging from John Boyega to Denzel Washington have been suggested online, the frontrunner in many people’s minds is Academy Award nominee and The Walking Dead veteran Colman Domingo.
Some fans, such as user @bensolo_cup on Instagram, have even gone so far as to create concept art showing off what Colman Domingo could look like as Jonathan Majors’ Kang successor. The art takes a cue from Majors’ prior appearance as Kang the Conqueror in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and can be seen in full below.
This fancast isn’t without merit either. Hollywood insider Daniel Richtman has suggested that Marvel has been eyeing Colman Domingo to replace Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror since at least January. However, no official word has been released on who will be replacing Majors in the MCU.
Colman Domingo also isn’t opposed to the possibility. When asked if he’d be willing to take up the mantle of Kang the Conqueror from Jonathan Majors, Domingo admitted that his team has been in talks with Marvel about joining the MCU for many years, though he personally doesn’t know anything about that specific rumor.
Either way, the clock is ticking on Marvel to replace Jonathan Majors in the MCU. The next Avengers films are coming down the pipeline sooner than anyone could have expected. While Colman Domingo would be a perfect casting choice, Marvel fans would likely take just about anyone after so long in silence.
