It appears that Dakota Johnson has confirmed the Madame Web Spider-Man spin-off casting news.
Last week, it was reported that actress Dakota Johnson was in talks for the titular role in Madame Web, one of the numerous films in development for Sony’s Spider-Man Universe franchise. The film is set to be directed by S.J. Clarkson and Morbius scribes Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless having penned the script.
Well, it looks like Dakota Johnson herself has addressed the casting talks. On her official Instagram story, she shared a cryptic post, in which she shared a simple web emoji, seemingly confirming her talks with Sony to star in their Spider-Man Universe as Madame Web in a solo film. If Dakota Johnson is confirmed to play Madame Web, she will be the latest member of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe franchise that includes Tom Hardy as Venom, Jared Leto as Morbius and Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Kraven the Hunter. The introduction of such characters tease an exciting future for the franchise, potentially leading to a face off against Spider-Man himself.
Here is the synopsis for Sony’s last Spider-Man film, No Way Home:

Now, Peter will have to overcome his greatest challenge yet, which will not only forever alter his own future but the future of the Multiverse.
