Is Dave Bautista joining James Gunn at DC Studios? A new photo suggests the Marvel star is set to join the DC Universe!
It’s no secret that James Gunn likes casting his friends in his movies, and it seems as though former Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista is next on the list to join the DC Universe. The Marvel hero recently posted a photo of himself in Gunn’s parking space at DC Studios, teasing a potential role in the upcoming rebooted universe:
James Gunn has previously gone on record saying that he only casts DC Universe roles for projects actively in development. Given Peacemaker, Superman: Legacy, and Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow are some of the only DC Studios projects actively in production, it’s more likely than not Dave Bautista will appear in one of these projects. Though which project, if any, is let to be seen.
The Future of the DC Universe
James Gunn and Peter Safran told journalists that their vision for the DC Universe includes locked scripts, wiggle room, and a unified storyline across film, television, animation, and video game projects. The two explained that the DC Universe could bring back elements from previous DC regimes, meaning that their eight-to-year plan is not a full reboot.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods, The Flash, and Blue Beetle have all been released following the announcement of the new DC Universe, with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom still slated to hit theaters in 2023. Will the characters from those movies make appearances in the new DCU? Only Gunn and Safran know.
