David Koepp Reveals Why He Stepped Away From ‘Indiana Jones 5’

David Koepp recently revealed why he is no longer involved with James Mangold’s Indiana Jones 5.

Back in February, it was reported that Logan‘s James Mangold was in talks to replace Steven Spielberg as the director of Indiana Jones 5. Over the years, Indiana Jones 5 has been stuck in development with several writers involved such as Solo: A Star Wars Story‘s Jonathan Kasdan and frequent Spielberg collaborator David Koepp.

Filming for Indiana Jones 5 was scheduled to begin this summer with Harrison Ford set to star, but productions are currently shutdown. Not to mention the upcoming sequel has been pushed back once again from 2021 to 2022 with a new director now on board. While talking with Collider, David Koepp revealed whether or not he was still involved with the next adventure in the franchise:

“Not anymore. When James Mangold came in … he deserves a chance to take his shot at it. I’d done several versions with Steven. And when Steven left, it seemed like the right time to let Jim have his own take on it and have his own person or himself write it.”
