Steven Spielberg’s ‘Indiana Jones 5’ Gets New Writer & Old Plot Revealed

Steven Spielberg’s Indiana Jones 5 gets a new writer and old plot details have now been revealed.

Steven Spielberg introduced audiences to the adventurous archeologist Indy in 1981’s Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark. Steven Spielberg has directed all four of the Indiana Jones films and the director is expected to return for the character’s fifth entry. At first Solo: A Star Wars Story‘s Jon Kasdan had been tasked to write the script for the fifth Indiana Jones film. Interestingly, Jon Kasdan is the son of Lawrence Kasdan who co-wrote the first Indiana Jones film. Sadly, Jon Kasdan’s script will no longer be used and the studio will be going ahead with This is Us writer Dan Fogelman.

Now that there will be a new script, details from Jon Kasdan’s script have been revealed, which seemed to be taking Indy on an interesting train adventure. According to sources close to Making Star Wars‘ Jason Ward, Jon Kasdan’s script focused on the Wałbrzych Gold Train legend which deals with a lost Nazi train that contained lots of gold. According to the legend, the train was hidden in tunnels with gold and priceless artifacts. Interesting as it may have been, Dan Fogelman’s script will not be using the same premise and could be crafting a new adventure for Indiana Jones with Steven Spielberg returning to direct.

What are your thoughts on Jon Kasdan’s script? Are you excited to see Steven Spielberg return to direct the fifth entry? Share your thoughts below!

Steven Spielberg will be returning to direct the untitled Indiana Jones sequel along with a new script by Dan Fogelman. Harrison Ford is expected to return for one more outing as the famous archeologist. There are no other actors confirmed to return as of yet.

The untitled Indiana Jones sequel is expected to hit theaters on July 9, 2021.
