‘Deadpool And Wolverine’ Could Be Key To Robert Downey Jr. & Chris Evans’ MCU Return Says Kevin Feige

Are RDJ and Chris Evans back for Secret Wars?

Could Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. be on their way back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Kevin Feige reveals that Deadpool and Wolverine may be a key part of their return.

Ever since Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans took their bow and left the MCU, fans have been looking for any way the iconic actors could make their return as Iron Man and Captain America, respectively. With Hugh Jackman coming back as a hero after nearly a decade in Deadpool and Wolverine, Kevin Feige admits the film may be a key example of how other actors could make a comeback.

“That’s the key, right?” Feige explained in a recent chat with DiscussingFilm. “How do you do it in a way that maintains what has come before, and in a great way? And we’ve been spending, you know, the last two-plus years figuring that out for Wolverine So, what’s to come? We’ll see.”

“We’re just proud that we, I think, have figured it out for Wolverine. I think Hugh’s appearance and starring role in [Deadpool & Wolverine] is a great sign that it can be done — if great care is taken.”

With how much spectacle has become key to the MCU’s identity, it’s a relief to hear that Kevin Feige isn’t rushing to have Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans return as Iron Man and Captain America. However, the way he spoke about Deadpool and Wolverine being a good sign suggests Marvel may be charting a new path when it comes to bringing old heroes back.

Hugh Jackman To Make His MCU Return

Rumors suggest that Hugh Jackman may not be done with his time in the MCU just yet. Alongside Kevin Feige’s hopes to do Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. justice if they return, scooper MyTimeToShineHello suggested that Jackman wants to square off against RDJ and Tobey Maguire in Avengers: Secret Wars, where he’ll likely play a leading role.

Of course, not every hero can make their return to the MCU in a massive way. While Kevin Feige is taking care with potential comebacks like Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans, he also admits that not every hero is going to make the cut in a new Avengers film. So it may be the case of new faces being pushed aside for old classics!

Deadpool and Wolverine is currently expected to be released on July 26, 2024. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
