The New Mutants director Josh Boone has revealed how long his upcoming X-Men spinoff film will be.

It’s been a long road to get to The New Mutants and while we’re still not quite there yet, the film is still currently scheduled to be released at the end of August. At this year’s virtual San Diego Comic-Con the people behind the film have been promoting the heck out of it, revealing the opening scene, new posters, and plans that sadly may not come to fruition. Now director Josh Boone has revealed the upcoming film’s runtime.

It had been originally reported that the film would be a lean 98 minutes long. While speaking with Collider, Director Josh Boone has confirmed that runtime, revealing that, even at its longest, the film was never more than 104 minutes long:

“I think it’s 98 minutes or something like that. It was never more than 104 even at its longest. I remember my initial cut before we cut anything out was probably 20 minutes longer than that, but you’ll see all that on the special features – we put together all the deleted scenes for everybody. It was more just stuff that was too funny or tonally just didn’t quite go together, but it’s cute character moments that I think fans will like.”

What do you all make of this runtime? Do you think the runtime for The New Mutants is too short or would it be nice to see a shorter superhero film? Let us know what you think in the comments below!

Here is the official synopsis for The New Mutants:
