Screenwriter Michael Waldron revealed Wasp was in one version of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness featured some fun appearances thanks to the Illuminati line-up. It’s been revealed through reports that the Illuminati almost featured different familiar Marvel characters, and we now know Wasp was another hero considered for the film’s line-up.

Wasp’s Demise

On the audio commentary for the Doctor Strange sequel, which is now available on Digital, writer Michael Waldron first talked about the origins of the scene before sharing how Wasp was originally a part of it:

“Yeah, I think I watched Aliens and was just thinking about the way those Marines get massacred, and, yeah, I was glad it worked. I think originally, the Wasp was in a version of the Illuminati, and the Wasp shrunk down and flew at Wanda, and [Wanda] just clapped her hands and just smushed the Wasp in the first draft.”

While Evangeline Lilly didn’t turn up as Wasp in Multiverse of Madness, she will return in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania next.

Here is the synopsis for the film:

The MCU unlocks the Multiverse and pushes its boundaries further than ever before. Journey into the unknown with Doctor Strange, who, with the help of mystical allies both old and new, traverses the mind-bending and dangerous alternate realities of the Multiverse to confront a mysterious new adversary.

Directed by Sam Raimi from a script written by Michael Waldron, the Marvel film stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, with Michael Stuhlbarg, Rachel McAdams, and Patrick Stewart.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is available now on Digital and Disney Plus, and will arrive on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on July 18th. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania hits theaters on February 17, 2023.
