What could have been.

Balder the Brave Marvel Comics

Balder the Brave’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness cameo has been revealed.

A new behind-the-scenes video from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness shows off a cut moment from the Marvel Studios movie, featuring Balder the Brave. The character was almost played by former James Bond actor Daniel Craig, who backed out of the cameo at the last minute due to an uptick in COVID cases at the time of production.

The Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness video shows a stand-in suited up as Balder, lying on the floor after an encounter with Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff. In the final version of the movie, Balder is replaced by Black Bolt and Mr. Fantastic.

Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Balder the Brave made his first comic book appearance in the pages of Journey into Mystery #85, which was released in October 1962. The character is one of the Norse Gods of Asgard and the half-brother of Thor.
