‘Black Adam’ Star Dwayne Johnson Says Hawkgirl Was Originally In The Script

The story behind Hawkgirl's 'Black Adam' exit is complicated according to Dwayne Johnson.

Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam will feature the Justice Society of America and the star revealed Hawkgirl as originally in the script.

After DC FanDome blew fans’ minds with what’s ahead for Warner Bros. and DC’s multiverse, Black Adam star Dwayne Johnson revealed on Twitter that Hawkgirl was originally included in the script for the film. Rumors swirled at the end of 2019 that Hawkgirl was set to appear in Black Adam alongside the JSA. Johnson himself confirmed the hero has been removed from the film, but her exit opened the doors for another character.

The news arrived online after a fan asked Dwayne Johnson on Twitter where Hawkgirl was after the entertaining Black Adam panel which revealed more about the other heroes set to appear in the film. The star explained the story behind Hawkgirl’s exit is a complicated one, but he’ll share it at some point in the future. Hawkgirl originally debuted in 1999 in JSA: Secret Files and Origins #1, and has since had roles in Smallville and Legends of Tomorrow. However, Johnson pointed out that the hero’s absence meant an actress could be introduced as Cyclone. Take a look below.

Do you think Hawkgirl should’ve been kept in the script for Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam? What did you think of the DC FanDome panel? Sound-off in the comments section!

Here is the synopsis for the latest release in the Black Adam universe, Shazam!:

We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quick.

Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans, and Djimon Hounsou.

Shazam! is now available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD. Black Adam is currently scheduled to hit theaters on December 22, 2021.
