The upcoming Disney Plus series The Falcon and The Winter Soldier could get a new title if it’s renewed for a second season.
Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan are set to reprise their respective roles as Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, a new Marvel Studios series coming to the Disney Plus streaming service. With production on season one nearly complete and Marvel rumored to be working on a second season for Tom Hiddleston’s Loki, Murphy’s Multiverse founder Charles Murphy has revealed that the series could be retitled if it’s renewed by Disney Plus.
During a recent episode of his Murphy’s Law podcast, Murphy suggested that Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan’s Marvel characters would be in a diffrent place by the end of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier season one. If that’s the case, Marvel Studios could end up changing the show’s title if it comes back for another season:
“Coming out of season one, [Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson] are going to have gone through something traumatic and be different. There was definitely at one point a plan for a second season… If they did have season two, it wouldn’t be called The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Season 2, it would be a thematically related thing with a different name.”
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier was one of the many television projects that were forced to halt production due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis. The series was recently given permission to continue filming in the Czech Republic.
Here is the official synopsis for the Marvel Studios series:
Following the events of “Avengers: Endgame,” Sam Wilson/Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) team up in a global adventure that tests their abilities—and their patience—in Marvel Studios’ “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.”
Directed by Kari Skogland from scripts written by showrunner Malcolm Spellman and Derek Kolstad, the series stars Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson / Falcon, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes / The Winter Soldier, Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter, Daniel Brühl as Baron Helmut Zemo, and Wyatt Russell as John Walker / U.S. Agent. Actors Desmond Chiam, Miki Ishikawa, Noah Mills, and Carl Lumbly have also been cast.
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will premiere exclusively on Disney Plus in August 2020. Stay tuned for all the latest news regarding The Falcon and The Winter Soldier and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more great video content.
