‘Dune: Part Two’: Florence Pugh & Austin Butler Confirmed For Cast

Florence Pugh Austin Butler Dune Part Two

Florence Pugh and Austin Butler are now confirmed to join the cast of Dune: Part Two.

With production on Dune: Part Two, the sequel to Denis Villeneuve’s acclaimed sci-fi epic based on the novel of the same name by Frank Herbert set to begin this summer, it appears that we now have two new cast members confirmed. Black Widow star Florence Pugh and Elvis star Austin Butler are now set to join the ensemble.

Florence Pugh is set to play Princess Irulan, while Austin Butler is set to play Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen. A brief synopsis for Dune: Part Two was also provided, teasing the narrative that will be on display in adapting the second half of the sci-fi novel to the screen:

Part Two will focus on Paul assembling a massive army of Fremen to combat the ruthless Harkonnen, as he essentially becomes a mythical messiah figure to the inhabitants of Arrakis.”

Dune: Part Two will complete the duology of Denis Villeneuve’s ambitious adaptation of Frank Herbert’s classic novel. Part One received a whopping six Academy Awards at this year’s ceremony, easily topping the rest of its competition for most wins, including this year’s Best Picture winner, CODA.

Florence Pugh, known by most readers of this website for her role as Yelena Belova in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is also recognized for her acclaimed roles in films such as Ari Aster’s horror film Midsommar, and Greta Gerwig’s adaptation of Little Women, for which she received an Academy Award-nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Austin Butler had a small role in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and is set to have a potential breakout role as the titular lead in Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis, which he will star alongside Tom Hanks.

Dune: Part Two will be directed by Denis Villeneuve from a script written by him and Jon Spaihts, the film will star Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem, Dave Bautista, Florence Pugh, and Austin Butler.

Dune is now available on home media formats, with Part Two hitting theaters on October 20, 2023.
