Could Batman be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe? A new rumor suggests George Clooney is in talks with Marvel for an undisclosed role in an upcoming project.
George Clooney has a sordid history with the superhero genre, seeming to only star in flops such as Batman & Robin and The Flash. However, it seems that isn’t scaring Marvel. According to a new rumor by scooper MyTimeToShineHello, the studio is eyeing Clooney for a role in the MCU.
This rumor is interesting considering George Clooney has previously stated there are “not enough drugs in the world” for him to return as Batman. Either the MCU has a very enticing role in mind, or there’s a reason Marvel wouldn’t let Deadpool touch any drugs in Deadpool and Wolverine! Though, as with all rumors, this should be taken with a grain of salt.
Who Could George Clooney Play In The MCU
Most Marvel fans have one role in mind when they hear this rumor: Nick Fury. While George Clooney and Samuel L. Jackson are far from identical, Clooney is almost a picture-perfect casting choice for Nick Fury Sr. It would certainly be a fun multiversal cameo as the MCU’s multiverse phase reaches its climax in Avengers: Secret Wars.
On the topic of Avengers: Secret Wars, it’s possible Marvel recruits George Clooney to play the MCU’s next big bad in The Beyonder. This would give the project’s villain enough star power to potentially make fans forget about the Jonathan Majors situation.
