Does the MCU have big plans for Kate Bishop? Hailee Steinfeld reveals her thoughts on the future of her iconic Hawkeye character.
The MCU has added dozens of new characters in recent years. Some would argue too many, with a lot of the newest heroes merging into the sludge of memory. However, a lucky few of these characters have managed to stand out as genuine new icons for the franchise. Perhaps the most prominent is Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop, who made her debut in the Hawkeye series.
Due to a number of factors, including but not limited to Jeremy Renner’s 2023 snow plow accident, Hawkeye has yet to be renewed for a season two. The only time Hailee Steinfeld has reprised the role of Kate Bishop since has been in a post-credits scene for The Marvels. This has left many wondering if her time in the MCU may very well be over. And while the actress didn’t say much, she admits she’s excited for whatever the future may bring.
“Oh my gosh. See, these get me in trouble, these questions! I wish I could say it all,” Steinfeld told Collider in a recent interview. “I wish I knew it all. I think one of the greatest parts about being in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is that you yourself are along for the ride, and this is another character that I love so, so, so much and understand.”
“I’m so grateful that Kate is a character that is so widely loved. I, as a fan, am so excited to see where she goes and to be a part in any and every way that is in store for her.”
When Will Kate Bishop Return In The MCU?
There are surprisingly bountiful places that Hailee Steinfeld could make her return as Kate Bishop. Perhaps the most obvious of which is Hawkeye season 2. While Disney has been wary to renew their Disney Plus offerings for the MCU, the rumor mill has been picking up steam in suggesting that the archers may make their return relatively soon. And if those rumors are to be believed, it seems the studio has one crazy plan.
However, if one is to assume that a second season of Hawkeye is off the table, Hailee Steinfeld can jump to any number of team projects. While Avengers: Doomsday is the obvious one, given it’ll be the biggest project the MCU has done yet, her scene in The Marvels was clearly setting Kate Bishop for a role in a Young Avengers series. While the project has yet to be confirmed, rumors suggest that some massive reworks may be coming for the project.
