Jeremy Renner has taken his own hero’s journey in the past year after a snowplow incident that left him in critical condition. However, it seems as though the Hawkeye star has plans to return as an Avenger in the MCU sometime soon.
The future of Jeremy Renner’s career was up in the air for some time after the accident. The actor often takes on action-heavy roles, but the snowplow incident left him critically injured and even months later requires him to use a walking stick. Given the finale of Hawkeye hinted at Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop taking the mantle for good, fans thought they’d seen the last of Renner’s time in the MCU.
Luckily for Hawkeye fans, it seems as though Jeremy Renner isn’t throwing in the towel yet. During a recent appearance at the Phoenix Fan Fusion event this past weekend, Renner was asked about his future as an Avenger in the MCU. Renner quickly assured fans he wasn’t going to stop acting and that he’ll be back as Clint Barton as soon as Marvel Studios asks, assuming his daughter lets him!
It’s unclear where Jeremy Renner would appear next. With Hawkeye season 2 not yet confirmed and its spin-off Echo already done filming and set to premiere later this year, it’s most likely his MCU return would be in an Avengers film. Whether we’ll see Clint Barton in action in those movies or if Renner will stick to the sidelines to let Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop handle the action is yet to be seen, and likely depends on how Renner’s recovery continues and how long the WGA Writers Strike lasts.
