HBO has given us our first full look at Pedro Pascal’s Joel Miller, Bella Ramsey’s Ellie Williams, and one of the series’ most horrifying antagonists, The Clicker in the upcoming show, The Last Of Us.

Way back in 2013, The Last of Us was released. The game was universally praised by gamers and critics alike who saw the entire experience as a refreshing take on the by then well-worn zombie sub-genre. Soon after a film adaption was put into development that did not pan out for various reasons. Eventually, the live-action adaptation took the form of an HBO series.

Since the HBO The Last of Us series was revealed, the cast for the show quickly began to fill out. Pedro Pascal of The Mandandalorain fame was cast as protagonist Joel Miller with Game of Thrones star Bella Ramsey joining as Ellie. Ghost Rider actor Gabriel Luna was also added as Joel’s brother Tommy. Since these announcements, official looks at the series have been virtually nonexistent save for one photo until now.

Earlier today, HBO released a first full look at Pedro Pascal’s Joel and Bella Ramsey’s Ellie hiding from a Clicker. You can see the full image below:

In The Last of Us, the Clickers are the most advanced stage of the Zombie infection in this world. The infections in the series center around a fungus that drives people mad. At the Clicker stage, the zombie is rendered blind, but is highly aggressive and, in the games, will kill you instantly if they come into contact with your character.

The original video game centers on the relationship between a smuggler named Joel and 14-year-old Ellie, the latter of whom may be the key to curing the deadly pandemic that resulted in the post-apocalypse world of the game. Hired to smuggle Ellie out of a quarantine zone, Joel finds himself relying on the teenage girl just as much as she relies on him as they fight to survive on their journey across the United States. The HBO adaptation will cover the events of the first game, with the second game potentially surviving as the basis for additional content. The upcoming series is said to be one of the most expensive ever made, with each episode said to cost roughly $10M with a total budget of around $200M.

HBO’s The Last Of Us currently does not have a release date but is reportedly planned to be released in late 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding the upcoming series and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
