Henry Cavill’s Superman and the rest of the Justice League heroes face Darkseid in this new piece of fan art that imagines what fans could have seen in Zack Snyder’s cut of the DC Comics team-up flick.
Zack Snyder recently took to the social media platform Vero to reveal that his original vision for the final moments of Justice League saw Steppenwolf’s severed head end up at Darkseid’s feet through a boom tube that collapsed after the Justice League destroyed the three Mother Boxes. Henry Cavill’s Superman and the rest of the Justice League team would have seen Darkseid and his forces on the other side of the portal before it was destroyed.

Zack Snyder’s original plans for the DCEU included Justice League introducing Darkseid. The visionary director’s original 5 film-arc was going to feature a Young Darkseid vs Ares and the other Greek Gods in the first invasion of Earth, the murder of Lois Lane as well as half of the Justice League, and Darkseid taking control of Henry Cavill’s heartbroken Superman with the Anti-Life Equation.
Henry Cavill reportedly still wants to play Superman although the actor himself has been rather ambiguous regarding his return as the Man of Steel. Henry Cavill has said that he would still like to play Superman again but he, unfortunately, has no deal to return in place. Last year, Henry Cavill walked away from negotiations to return for a cameo in Shazam! only for his version of Superman to still be featured in the movie. Shazam! was able to get away with the lack of Henry Cavill’s presence by simply not showing Superman’s face during his brief appearance.
Henry Cavill will soon trade in his Superman suit to play Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s adaptation of The Witcher. Rumors have also suggested that Warner Bros. will be focusing on Supergirl in the DCEU going forward instead of Superman. 22 Jump Street scribe Oren Uziel is writing the script for the Supergirl film which will be an origin story for Kara Zor-El.
