Is Deadpool and Wolverine the end for Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds? The two actors speak on their potential return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe after the film.
When it was announced that Ryan Reynolds got Hugh Jackman on board to star in Deadpool and Wolverine, Marvel fans saw the project as a victory lap for both actors. However, it may only just be the beginning. When asked if either actor saw themselves making another return in the future of the MCU, both dodged the question in spectacular fashion.
“I’m very nervous talking to you,” Reynolds told Empire before Jackman added. “I’ve never been so scared of what’s coming out of my mouth.”
This all but confirms that Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds will return in Avengers: Secret Wars. Rumors have already suggested they’ll star in the highly-anticipated MCU project. Even the Deadpool and Wolverine teaser featured a Secret Wars comic! So the question truly should be when they’ll return to the MCU, not if.
The Many Cameos Of Deadpool and Wolverine
Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds aren’t the only characters making their MCU debut in Deadpool and Wolverine. Multiple X-Men villains have already been confirmed to return for the project, including Aaron Stanford’s Pyro, Toad, Lady Deathstrike, and Azazel. These four, along with others, will likely work with the villainous Cassandra Nova in a pseudo-Brotherhood of Evil.
MCU characters will also be making their way into Deadpool and Wolverine. Alioth, the smoke monster from Marvel’s Loki, already appeared in the newest trailer for the project. Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds will also likely encounter a team featuring Dafne Keen’s X-23. However, how big of a role any of these characters will play is up in the air.
