James Gunn Has No Problem With David Ayer Releasing His ‘Suicide Squad’ Cut

James Gunn says he wouldn’t have a problem with Warner Bros. releasing David Ayer’s original cut of Suicide Squad.

While fans are looking forward to James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad when it arrives next year, there’s been an increase of support for the release of David Ayer’s Suicide Squad following the success of the Release the Snyder Cut campaign. Ayer recently teased about what fans could have seen in his original version of the film, revealing new scenes involving Katana taking on the rest of the squad. The director also pointed out that Cara Delevigne’s Enchantress had a solid character arc in the cut.

But when asked by a fan on Twitter if the Ayer cut would undermine his new take on the team or if it would help gain interest in it, James Gunn explained that he’s fine with whatever the director and Warner Bros. want to do with it no problem. Gunn is no stranger to company politics getting in the way of a creator’s vision, as his firing and subsequent rehiring by Disney after old tweets resurfaced online became instantly infamous. Take a look at the director explaining his stance on David Ayer’s Suicide Squad below.

However, James Gunn is expected to deliver on the fresh take on the Suicide Squad in his upcoming movie.
