After a rumor that Alice Braga would be playing Poison Ivy in The Suicide Squad circulated online, director James Gunn completely debunked the idea.

The internet is constantly awash with rumors about upcoming comic book movies, characters that’ll appear in them and the stars taking on those roles. But it seems director James Gunn has had enough when it comes to false rumors circulate regarding his movies, most recently calling out a site for reporting that Poison Ivy would have a role in The Suicide Squad, with Alice Braga playing the character. The director often converses with fans on Twitter, and recently confirmed an adorable theory that a young fan had about Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy vol.2.

But when the director saw the post about Poison Ivy’s supposed role in The Suicide Squad, he pointed out that quite often these rumors come from “some rando” on social media and are still reported as if they’re fact. James Gunn pointed out that this is just about a movie, and it can be much more damaging when the same thing happens with politics and science. Still, his words seemingly debunk the idea that Poison Ivy will appear in the film, so fans can go back to the drawing board on who Alice Braga is playing in The Suicide Squad. However, Gunn did recently open up about John Cena’s role in the film, teasing how amazing the star’s performance is. Take a look at the director’s words on calling out rumors below.
