To say that the Superman trailer set the internet on fire would be an understatement. James Gunn’s latest outing in the DC Universe has been met with near-universal praise by those who have seen it. Though perhaps surprisingly, the technical aspects of the footage have been getting a large amount of the spotlight. Some hail the project as the first superhero film with color grading, while others salivate over the truly delectable VFX on display.
Yet not everything may be peachy in the world of post-production. A rumor making the rounds from Hollywood insider Jeff Sneider suggests that there’s some drama behind the scenes of Superman. The insider revealed that he’s heard a substantial amount of the VFX team had been laid off from the project by James Gunn two weeks ago due to conflict.
James Gunn Responds To Superman VFX Rumor
James Gunn was quick to sniff out this rumor and respond to it on social media. The director wrote on Threads that Jeff Sneider’s reports that there were problems with his VFX team were “not even a little bit” true. A separate post revealed that, while he did make small changes to the post-viz team a few months ago, there have been no changes made to the main VFX team.
Given how controversial VFX and the treatment of those behind them have been in the blockbuster space, it’s good to hear that James Gunn has trust in those working with him on Superman. This is also yet another example of the rumor mill not always being the most reliable, even coming from sources with a high amount of name recognition.
