Director James Gunn confirmed The Suicide Squad will be his complete vision of the supervillain team and there’s been “zero interference.”
The Suicide Squad director James Gunn recently spoke to several fans on Twitter about his upcoming projects, and revealed that he’s been given free reign over the team of supervillains, explaining that Warner Bros. hasn’t interfered or made changes to his vision. Gunn is no stranger to discussing his films with fans on social media, as he also recently debunked a theory online suggesting that Poison Ivy had a role in The Suicide Squad. But after all the recent news surrounding Zack Snyder’s Justice League and David Ayer’s original plans for Suicide Squad, fans are understandably concerned about the new film.
Following a brief conversation about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, director James Gunn explained that there’s been “zero interference” from Warner Bros. on his vision for The Suicide Squad. Fans of the director’s previous work will be pleased to hear that Gunn says it’s “no-holds-barred ME.” He also teased the film will have some sort of reveal at DC FanDome, with many fans online speculating that a first trailer will be released at the event. The first Suicide Squad followed a team of supervillains who were recruited by the government for a dangerous black ops mission in exchange for reduced sentences. The ensemble cast included Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and Jared Leto as The Joker. However, James Gunn is expected to deliver on the fresh take on the team in his upcoming movie.
