Jeffrey Dean Morgan is officially joining the cast of The Boys for the fourth season of the Amazon Prime Video superhero series.
Known for his role as Negan in The Walking Dead, Jeffrey Dean Morgan will be joining the likes of Karl Urban, Jack Quaid and Antony Starr – and quite possibly Jensen Ackles – in the subversive comic book series.
The casting announcement comes shortly after confirmation filming is underway on Season 4 of The Boys, suggesting Morgan will begin shooting his scenes soon.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Ready For His Tights
The casting announcement was shared today by official The Boys social media accounts, saying they were “chuffed to welcome” Jeffrey Dean Morgan to Season 4’s cast.
After his show-stopping role in The Walking Dead, Jeffrey Dean Morgan has certainly proven he can handle a graphic comic book adaptation. While there’s no word on who he will be playing in the world of The Boys just yet, Negan and Homelander would probably find they have a lot in common.
Morgan is also no stranger to the superhero genre, having previously played Batman’s father Thomas Wayne in DC’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. His role in that film was limited to a brief tragic-origin-flashback sequence, so he will hopefully have more to do in The Boys.
The third season of The Boys introduced Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy, Homelander’s equally dangerous biological father, and saw Karl Urban’s Billy Butcher and Jack Quaid’s Hughie starting to use Temp-V – a variant of Compound V that grants the user temporary superpowers.
Here is the synopsis for The Boys Season 3:
It’s been a year of calm. Homelander’s subdued. Butcher works for the government, supervised by Hughie of all people. But both men itch to turn this peace and quiet into blood and bone. So when The Boys learn of a mysterious Anti-Supe weapon, it sends them crashing into the Seven, starting a war, and chasing the legend of the first Superhero: Soldier Boy.
The Boys stars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capon, Karen Fukuhara, Nathan Mitchell, Colby Minifie, Jensen Ackles, and Paul Reiser.
Season 3 is now streaming on Amazon, with new episodes released every Friday. Stay tuned for the latest news surrounding The Boys, and subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
