Following the cancellation of DC’s Batgirl by Warner Bros. Discovery, actress Ivory Aquino has asked Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav to reconsider releasing the film.

The decision to cancel Batgirl‘s release was announced once the film was already in post-production. While it wasn’t yet finished, test screenings had reportedly taken place, meaning an early cut of the film must have already been completed.

Following reports of Warner Bros. Discovery’s plans to destroy all footage from the film, Batgirl actress Ivory Aquino has asked the studio’s CEO to reconsider in a heartfelt plea on social media.

Ivory Aquino Says David Zaslav Should Release Batgirl

Ivory Aquino played Alysia Yeoh in Batgirl, who would have been the first transgender character to appear in a DC movie.

Taking to Twitter to respond to reports of “funeral screenings” for Batgirl on the Warner Bros. lot, Aquino shared a message to Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav, suggesting he should reconsider the reprorted decision to destroy the footage from Batgirl and restore the film’s release.

Ivory Aquino called the film “a father-daughter story” and spoke of how she “was hoping it would resonate with other children around the world … who hold their fathers in the highest esteem.”

“If a month ago, there wasn’t a marketing budget for Batgirl, I’d venture to say that that has been taken care of by the turn of events these past few weeks,” the actress wrote, while praising the film’s “amazing supporters.”

Ivory Aquino finished her appeal to Zaslav by writing “Consider releasing Batgirl. She’s always been an underdog and has nowhere to go but up.”
