John Krasinski let nothing slip when he was recently asked about a possible MCU return as Reed Richards in Fantastic Four following his appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Reed Richards, also known as Mr. Fantastic, is the leader of Marvel’s first family, the Fantastic Four. John Krasinski played the role of Reed in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, though he appeared as an alternate reality’s version of the character and was quickly killed off.
Fans have been wondering whether John Krasinski may return to play Reed Richards again in the MCU’s main universe in the upcoming Fantastic Four. However, the actor is giving nothing away.
Reed Richards Returns
At San Diego Comic-Con this past weekend, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed Fantastic Four would be arriving in 2024. Nothing was revealed regarding who would be appearing in the film.
During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, John Krasinski was asked about the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot from Marvel Studios. The question resulted in a funny exchange, revolving around the fact that Krasinski was not allowed to say anything.
Check out the pair’s less than revealing conversation below:
Fallon: Comic-Con, they just announced all these new movies, and they announced that there’s gonna be a new Fantastic Four movie.
Krasinski: Yes.
Fallon: You’re not allowed to say anything.
Krasinski: Nope.
Fallon: I’m not allowed to really ask you.
Krasinski: That’s right.
Fallon: But…you think? You think?
Krasinski: You think?
Fallon: Do you think? Could one think?
Krasinski: Seriously, what have you heard? I need to know.
Fallon: They don’t tell you anything?
Krasinski: They don’t tell you anything.
Fallon: Not until right before you’re about to shoot.
Krasinski: That’s right.
Host Jimmy Fallon also tried and failed to get confirmation of whether John Krasinski’s real-life wife, Emily Blunt, could be set to play Reed Richards’ other half, Sue Storm/the Invisible Woman:
Fallon: And there’s also a rumor that your wife, Emily Blunt, would play Sue Storm.
Krasinski: Jimmy, I’m gonna tell you on your show, it’s… [keels over]
Fallon: Oh my god! Someone killed him right now! Can we get him a medic? That’s acting right there!
Krasinski: No, it’s actually a Marvel dart. That’s a Marvel dart, there’s a guy walking around.
Clearly, John Krasinski is already well-versed in Marvel’s anti-spoiler policies following his first Marvel appearance in the Doctor Strange sequel. That film’s director Sam Raimi had previously hinted that Krasinski might only be appearing as Earth-838’s Reed Richards. However, given the strong fan reaction to his casting, there’s a chance Marvel could ask Krasinski back for Fantastic Four.
Here is the synopsis for John Krasinski’s previous MCU appearance, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness:
