Karl Urban Gets His Claws Out As Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine Successor In New Image

Karl Urban's ready to Butcher some Sentinels!

Karl Urban Wolverine Hugh Jackman X-Men

A new concept design shows Karl Urban stepping into the MCU to replace Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in Marvel’s X-Men reboot.

Hugh Jackman first delivered his iconic take on Wolverine in 2000’s X-Men, going on to play the character nine times, culminating in a dramatic swansong in 2017’s Logan. With Marvel now teasing the arrival of the mutants in the MCU, it looks likely they will be recasting Logan for a new take on the X-Men.

With fans debating who could possibly take up Jackman’s claws, one candidate has already proven his worth as a rough-around-the-edges antihero in a world of superheroes – The Boys star Karl Urban.

Karl Urban Becomes Marvel’s Logan

The concept design shared by artist “arifinity” on Instagram transforms Karl Urban’s Billy Butcher into Marvel’s new Wolverine, casting Urban as a fitting replacement for Hugh Jackman.

The image sees Karl Urban, who has recently appeared as Butcher in the third season of The Boys on Amazon Prime Video, wielding Wolverine’s iconic claws and dogtags along with a suitably bloodied face. He certainly looks up to the task of taking over the role Hugh Jackman made iconic.

Judging by Urban’s performances in comic book adaptations The Boys and Dredd, he would be more than ready to get to grips with the savagery that comes with a character like Wolverine and should have no issues inheriting that trademark berserker rage from Hugh Jackman.

Karl Urban can now be seen in The Boys Season 3. Here is the synopsis:

It’s been a year of calm. Homelander’s subdued. Butcher works for the government, supervised by Hughie of all people. But both men itch to turn this peace and quiet into blood and bone. So when The Boys learn of a mysterious Anti-Supe weapon, it sends them crashing into the Seven, starting a war, and chasing the legend of the first Superhero: Soldier Boy.

The Boys stars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capon, Karen Fukuhara, Nathan Mitchell, Colby Minifie, Jensen Ackles, and Paul Reiser.

Season 3 is now streaming on Amazon, with new episodes released every Friday. Stay tuned for the latest news surrounding Karl Urban and Wolverine, and subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
