Was Agatha All Along the perfect send-off? Kathryn Hahn gives her thoughts on her series ending and a potential return in the MCU’s future.
Agatha All Along is one of the true underdog stories in the MCU. The series was ridiculed relentlessly ever since it was announced. Many said that nobody asked for the show and that it would be yet another flop. However, the show cemented itself as an instant classic in the universe thanks in no small part to Kathryn Hahn’s performance as the lead. The project also did impressive numbers, managing to outperform The Penguin which was going on at the same time.
One of the most astonishing parts about Agatha All Along was its ending. It was one of the most shocking in all of the MCU, with the series’ lead character ending up a spectral spirit by the end. Some viewed this as a sad fate as a witch who, even if she could never change, at least took a small step to redemption. However, Kathryn Hahn seems to have a more optimistic view than much of the internet when it comes to the show’s ending.
“Even though obviously now Billy/Wiccan is not her son, there is some sort of hope for her that she’s able to maybe do for him what she couldn’t do for Nicky,” Hahn explained in a recent interview published by LA Times. “I think they do make a great team.”
Will Kathryn Hahn Return In The MCU?
Speculation has begun to mount that Agatha All Along may not have been a one-and-done after all. The show’s submission for the Emmys suggests that it is not a limited series, meaning more seasons may potentially be planned. While Kathryn Hahn obviously couldn’t give specifics about her future in the MCU, she did express hope that she could one day return to the role of the Witch of Westview.
“Of course, I love this part and I love Joe Locke madly, and we’ll see what the future hold. In my mind, this was a beautiful and satisfying way to say goodbye to this incredible character I had to play.”
Even though all signs point to Agatha All Along not being the end of Kathryn Hahn’s time in the MCU, it’s good to hear that the actress has made peace with her time in the role in case things go completely south. Though given the long-rumored Young Avengers project is reportedly in the works, it likely won’t be long until she makes her official return.
