Is Kevin Feige on the hunt for a new director? The Marvel Studios president reveals if Jon Watts will return to helm Spider-Man 4.
There’s been a lot of speculation in recent months about who will be the director for Spider-Man 4, with Jon Wattss seemingly stepping away from Marvel following his most recent trilogy. However, neither Kevin Feige nor the studio has acknowledged this in any statement about the upcoming sequel.
That all changed in a recent interview Kevin Feige had with CinemaBlend. When asked if Jon Watts would return to helm Spider-Man 4, Feige admitted that Marvel will likely have to get a new director for that production given how musy Watts has become.
What Director Will Helm Spider-Man 4 For Marvel?
A lot of names have been thrown about when it comes to what director could replace Jon Watts. Some popular names Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios are said to be looking at include Sam Raimi, Drew Goddard, and Justin Lin. However, it’s not likely any of these men return Marvel’s calls given their current project line-up.
The current director fans want for Spider-Man 4 is actually two. Adil El Arbi And Bilall Fallah recently defied all odds with Bad Boys: Ride or Die making a massive box office splash. Given they have a history with Marvel after directing episodes of Ms. Marvel, and helmed the ill-fated Batgirl film, it’s likely Kevin Feige already has them in mind for a project even outside this current search.
