Full plot details remain under wraps but the film is said to follow Gal Gadot’s Diana Prince as she comes into conflict with formidable new adversaries including Cheetah and businessman Maxwell Lord (Pedro Pascal). Director Patty Jenkins did, however, tease what will be the basis for Wiig’s character to become Cheetah in the film back in April.

In the comics, Barbara Ann Minerva a.k.a. Cheetah was born heiress to a vast fortune and grew up to be an archaeologist. But her life took a turn while attempting to find the lost city of the Urzkartagan tribe in Africa. After searching throughout the continent for a tribe who was protected by a mysterious female guardian linked to the Cheetah, the guardian was murdered by a group of bandits and Minerva underwent a ritual to become the next host to their Cheetah goddess.

Directed by Patty Jenkins from a script she co-wrote with David Callaham and a treatment she developed with Geoff Johns, the new sequel stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal, Natasha Rothwell, Ravi Patel, Gabriella Wilde, Connie Nielson, and Robin Wright.

Wonder Woman 1984 is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on October 2, 2020. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Kristen Wiig’s Cheetah, the upcoming sequel, and the future of the DC Extended Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
