Wonder Woman 1984 director Patty Jenkins and star Gal Gadot have commented on the DC project’s release date delay.
On Friday, Warner Bros. changed the release date of the hotly-anticipated Wonder Woman 1984 again. Originally set to hit theatres in June, the film’s release was delayed to August due to the coronavirus. With the situation regarding the coronavirus only just getting better, Warner Bros. has decided to shift the release of the Wonder Woman film to October, months later than expected by fans. While the news may be disappointing to many, director Patty Jenkins and star Gal Gadot have commented on the film’s considerably lengthy delay.
Patty Jenkins took to Twitter to share a heartfelt message to fans for waiting so long for the DC project. She also shared a video of various theatres marquees teasing Wonder Woman 1984′s new release date.
Wish we were sharing our film yesterday but there are more important things going on in our world we'd rather you focus on for now. Thank you to our fans for being so great, by our sides. With various facets of the entertainment industry around the world slowly opening back up, it seems that the October release for Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 1984 will stick. With the release date seemingly firm, it’s hard not to imagine a brand new trailer coming our way, especially during an event like Comic-Con@Home which is set to begin in late July. Various other Warner Bros. projects including Godzilla vs. Kong and The Matrix 4 were delayed on Friday. Tenet, the Christopher Nolan-directed spy-thriller, also suffered a delay, albeit only by two weeks.
