Batgirl actress Leslie Grace confirmed that actor Jacob Scipio will play Anthony Bressi in the film.
Principal photography for the upcoming HBO Max exclusive DC Extended Universe film Batgirl recently completed, and by the end of the year, fans will have the opportunity to meet actress Leslie Grace as Barbara Gordon, the titular protagonist. Now, we got confirmation on the identity of the character her co-star Jacob Scipio will be playing.
According to Leslie Grace, Jacob Scipio will be playing mob boss Anthony Bressi in Batgirl. Also known as “Tough Tony” in the comics, Anthony Bressi is a mob boss that hails from a major crime family that was introduced during Batman’s fifth year of his crime-fighting career. The Caped Crusader often used for information on the status of Gotham City’s criminal underworld.
With Jacob Scipio as Anthony Bressi involved in Batgirl, it sure sounds like the film’s story will be tackling the mob as part of the narrative, similar to how it has been explored in previous films such as this year’s The Batman, in which Robert Pattinson faced off against Carmine Falcone (John Turturro). It will be interesting to see how Leslie Grace’s Barbara Gordon navigates the criminal underworld in the upcoming film.
Jacob Scipio was previously in Bad Boys For Life, which the Batgirl helmers also directed. He also appeared in Without Remorse and the upcoming film, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. He will be making his comic book movie debut in Batgirl.
Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are directing Batgirl. The movie is set to follow the Barbara Gordon iteration of the Gotham City heroine. J.K. Simmons also stars as Commissioner Gordon, Brendan Fraser will appear as the villain Firefly, and Michael Keaton is returning as his version of Batman.
