Marvel’s Avengers released several new trailers during its WAR TABLE livestream event today, revealing MODOK as the game’s central antagonist for its storyline.
The livestream event featured new gameplay and story trailers, offering players the best look yet at Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in action from the upcoming Crystal Dynamics game. In addition to the games co-op war zones, which allows players to team up together and take on missions, we also got an in-depth look at the game’s combat, as well as the game’s skill tree for character progression, and character customization for the individual Marvel superheroes.
But what might have been the biggest surprise revealed from the livestream event today was the reveal of the game’s main villain being George Tarleton, a.k.a MODOK (Mental Organism Designed Only For Killing), the leader of the evil organization A.I.M. (Advanced Idea Mechanics). It seems the disastrous events of A-Day and the Terrigen Mists released on San Francisco give way to the skilled technician becoming the Super-Adaptoid, MODOK.
Marvel’s Avengers has been confirmed for release on both the Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X. Players who purchase the game on Playstation 4 will be able to upgrade to the next-gen version of the game for free. The developers have also assured fans that the team is working hard from home in order to meet its September release date despite the Coronavirus pandemic.
Here is the official synopsis for the upcoming game:
Marvel’s Avengers begins at A-Day, where Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor are unveiling a hi-tech Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco — including the reveal of their own helicarrier powered by an experimental energy source. The celebration turns deadly when a catastrophic accident results in massive devastation. Blamed for the tragedy, the Avengers disband. Five years later, with all Super Heroes outlawed and the world in peril, the only hope is to reassemble Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
