With the reshoots currently underway in Atlanta for Captain America 4, a certain Avenger has been rumored to be in town and is expected to make a cameo in the supposedly grounded action film.
Reputable paparazzi account Atlanta Filming, which has released tons of behind the scenes set photos over the years of MCU films, has revealed that Benedict Wong may return as Wong, the Sorcerer Supreme, in Captain America 4.
The account on Friday posted the caption: “Why would sorcerer be in Cap4?” and then deleted the post. The account followed up with a new post and added the caption:
“Yes, he is in town. People have seen him walking around midtown. But, whether or not he sorcery-ing or not you will have to wait to find out. He is filming on another project but that doesn’t mean he is or isn’t filming for Cap4. If you want to imagine a plot with him or without him that’s cool with me. But, I am not going to tell you you are right or… (you know this joke was coming)… wong.
For a while, it seemed as though MCU fans couldn’t escape Wong. From Shang-Chi to She-Hulk: Attorney At Law, Benedict Wong had his fingers in every pie. Now it’s been two years since fans have seen Wong in the Doctor Strange sequel, leading many to assume that the Wong-apocalypse was over.
Yet fans may see the Sorcerer Supreme return to the MCU sooner than expected. Now here is the kicker, most recently, when asked about his absence, Benedict Wong teased that something is waiting around the corner for Wong, even if he can’t say exactly what or exactly if he’ll return.
“I can’t really say. It’s been a while,” Benedict Wong said. “Something’s looming.”
Wong is the quintessence of the power of the MCU. The character was a mere footnote in the Doctor Strange comics. However, Benedict Wong and the team at Marvel Studios managed to transform him into a fan-favorite character that audiences can’t live without. Here’s to hoping the character returns sooner rather than later!
Captain America 4 will be released on February 14, 2025.
